Ceric chromate, Ce(CrO4)2
Ceric chromate, Ce(CrO4)2.2H2O, is obtained by heating ceric hydroxide with aqueous chromic acid. It is a bright scarlet crystalline salt that cannot be heated above 180° without decomposing. It is decomposed by water, losing chromic acid and turning orange in colour.
